One of a Kind piece
Used concho belt
Traditional Concho belt, made in mat sterling silver set with Lander Blue turquoises (Nevada), made of a buckle, nine conchos and ten butterflies.
This concho belt is an exceptional second-hand piece. Circa 70s/80s, it has already been worn and therefore has its own history... which remains a mystery :-). What we do know is that it was made by Herbert Begay, a great Navajo silversmith. The Begays are one of the largest and best-known families of Navajo silversmiths artists.
One size fits all
The concho belt is an emblematic piece of Navajo jewelry. This traditional and now mythical belt can be recognized by silver oval or round pieces (called conchos) and silver butterfly-shaped pieces attached by brass bars to a leather strap.
The beautiful buckle, conchos and butterflies of this traditional belt are each handcrafted and offer a stunning example of hammering, stamping and soldering, techniques in which the Begays excel. Each piece is oxidized, giving character and structure to the final jewel. The result is a magnificent belt that will add style to your outfit.
Size of the conchos: 5cm x 3.8cm (2 inch 1/8 x 1 inch 3/4)
Butterfly size: 3.9cm x 2.4cm (1 inch 3/4 x 1 inch)
Buckle size: 6.5cm x 5.2cm (2 inches 3/4 x 2 inches 1/4)
Leather length: 125cm
Proudly Navajo handmade in the USA.
All components of this belt are removable, allowing it to be inserted into the loops of jeans and other garments.
