This belt buckle is a fine demonstration of Navajo jewelry. The artist has created it using various ancestral silverworking techniques for which the Navajo are famous:

First of all, the shape of this buckle is a concho (an oval-shaped silver piece) which has the particularity to be adorned of four moustache shapes (emblematic of Navajo jewelry). These moustaches are created using the Repoussé technique, a traditional process that consists of pushing the silver onto the reverse side of the jewel to create a relief on the front. This gesture requires expertise and precision, to create a uniform and harmonious volume.

This beautiful buckle is also fully chased and embossed by hand with various motifs and the whole piece is oxidized to give even more structure and cachet to this jewel, which perfectly couples matte and shiny silver. Admire all these details. Each design is the artist's own creation, each punch made with the "perfect gesture" that guarantees the same depth for each motif.
