One of a Kind piece
Incredible belt buckle in sterling silver, set with seventeen Number 8 turquoises (Nevada).
This belt buckle is the creation of Darrell Cadman, a silversmith part of a large family of Navajo artists. With this buckle, Cadman gives a great demonstration of Navajo fine jewelry:
At the center of the jewel is an oval shape well known to Navajo silverworkers: a concho. This concho is made using Repoussé, a traditional process that consists of embossing the silver on the reverse side to create a relief on the front. This gesture requires expertise and precision, to create a uniform, harmonious volume.
This concho is framed by two numerous Number 8 turquoises, a beautiful quality Nevada turquoise that is as rare as it is prized, since its mine is now closed. Cadman has played with the many shades and dies of this turquoise, with each cabochon set on this buckle showing the many hues of Number 8, ranging from very light pastel blue to deeper sky blue.
Each line of turquoise is punctuated by a moustache shape (again, an emblematic form of Navajo jewelry), also created using the Repoussé technique.
In addition, this beautiful buckle is embossed with various motifs and the whole is oxidized to give even more structure and cachet to this jewel, which perfectly pairs mat and shiny silver.
Admire all these details. Each design is the artist's own creation, each punch made with the "perfect gesture" that guarantees the same depth for each motif.
This is strong piece of jewelry. A timeless accessory with a presence that will make all the difference.
