Rectangular Navajo belt buckle in sterling silver, set with a Kingman turquoise (Arizona).
The belt buckle is a must-have of Native American jewelry. On this one, the artist has framed the turquoise with silver spheres and leaves: these leaves are an example of Applique work, an emblematic process in Navajo jewelry, which can be recognized by natural elements (feathers, leaves and gourd flowers) chased into thin silver plates and then soldered to a smooth setting. The rest of the buckle is finely embossed with various Native motifs.
