One of a Kind Piece - Pueblo Jemez Pottery

Impressive Story Teller, handmade and hand-painted with clay and natural pigments coming from Native soil.

The Story Teller is an important Native figure. She is a woman storyteller, surrounded by children and sometimes animals. She is the guardian of oral tradition. It is the Story Tellers who pass on and keep alive the various legends and stories linked to Native traditions.

Here, the Story Teller is surrounded by 12 children who all seem to have found their perfect spot: shoulders, hips or thighs, the Story Teller is ready to welcome them all and to let them take part in the story. Some of them hold musical instruments in their hands, while others seem to be listening attentively to the Story Teller. Her hair is beautifully styled and she wears a traditional Native dress. The artist has even created pretty details such as turquoise rings and necklaces... another demonstration of the importance of turquoise jewelry in Native culture.

In her hands, the Story Teller carries a Wedding Pot, an emblematic Native pottery, symbolizing marriage and the couple's life.
