BO342 Harpo feather inlay earrings

Pueblo earrings, Humming-bird feathers.

These feathers are inlaid of pipestone, butternut stone, white serpentine, Kingman turquoise (Arizona) and black-jet on a slice of black-jet.

The Kewa are the masters of this inlay technique, which is emblematic of ancestral Native jewelry, even before sterling silver was introduced in the Southwest of what would later become the United States of America.  

In Native culture the humming-bird symbolizes joy, life, beauty, agility and love.
