Raccoon carved in Zuni stone, adorned with turquoise Kingman (Arizona) details on the ears and muzzle, creating a subtle, elegant contrast. His tail is beautifully inlaid with black-jet, adding a touch of refinement. The eyes and small guitar, carefully decorated with a play of turquoise and black-jet, underline the delicacy of this work, making this animal a unique piece.

The racoon is the Jesse James of the forest: it is a smart and cunning thief. It is a trouble-maker who acts in group, always looking for food. These animals are curious and full of resourceness to reach their goals.

In a time when the Zuni tribe lived from agriculture and hunting, the hunters couldn't do without these amulets and would never forget to bring them during their expeditions. The fetishes assure benevolence of the soul. Each animal represents its spirit, its own inner force and protects its owner.
