The Story Teller, an emblematic pottery
The ancestral art of Pueblo pottery and the maintenance of the oral tradition among this people has created an emblematic figure: The Story Teller, now an essential symbol of Native American craftsmanship and more specifically of Native American pottery.
The Story Teller is the image of the Elder who passes on traditions to the younger generation and can take many different forms, but it is most often a female figure, with her mouth wide open, showing that she is in the middle of a story. This Native American woman can be sat or stoop up, usually wear traditional cloths and is surrounded by children, who accompany her in her singing or who listen attentively.
