Round Zuni pendant inlaid of mother-of-pearl, Sleeping Beauty turquoise (Arizona), coral, and black-jet.

This pendant represents Knifewing, a the Zuni's War divinity half man - half eagle. We find him in many Zuni's tales, where he is easily recognizable by his large razor sharp feathers made of flint and his open legs, giving him an impressive appearance.

The Zuni inlay is composed of real stones (most often turquoise, coral, mother-of-pearl and jet), cut, sculpted and assembled by hand with great care to create a pattern of the artist's choice. The whole is then polished, for a smooth and elegant finish.
