One of a Kind piece
Stunning Navajo pendant inlaid with high-grade Kingman turquoise (Arizona) set in sterling silver.
This pendant is a fine example of a process known as "channel inlay": It's a marquetry technique in which hand-cut stones are compartmentalized by small silver bars to create a geometric pattern. The whole is polished to a smooth, elegant finish.
The inlay is a jewelry technique originally mastered by the Zuni, but here brilliantly realized by a Navajo artist.
This inlay is in a smooth setting, which is itself surrounded by a beautiful silver cord, and the pendant base is finely chased with fine cut lines.
The result is a superb piece of jewelry, fully representative of Native silversmithing.
