Zuni pendant representing a Kachina head, inlaid of Sleeping Beauty turquoise (Arizona), coral, mother-of-pearl (yellow and white), malachite, black jet and black-pen shell, on sterling silver.
 

The Kachinas are incarnations of the spiritual form, they are supernatural beings who make the link with the divine. During certain ceremonies, they appear to the Natives while dancing and singing, in physical forms mixing animal features and abstract figures.

What is Zuni inlay? It is a mixture of real stones (most often turquoise, coral, mother of pearl and jet), cut and assembled by hand to create a geometric pattern. The whole is polished for a smooth and elegant look.
