Navajo ring featuring a turquoise set in sterling silver.

This ring is representative of the traditional Navajo jewelry style:

The setting is carved with a groove of oxidized silver around the turquoise and is hand-chased with fine cutting details. This composition creates a relief and an interesting contrast between the deep green of the turquoise, the dark of the oxidation and the shine of the silver.

The ring is made in Applique, a process emblematic of Navajo jewelry. This technique can be recognized by the shell shapes on either side of the turquoise, which are chased into thin silver plates and then soldered onto the ring.
