One of a Kind Piece
Stunning Navajo necklace featuring a large rosette pendant in Sonoran Gold turquoise (Arizona) on an imposing strand of sterling mat silver beads.
This large pendant is an exceptional piece created by a member of one of the greatest families of Navajo silversmiths, the Yazzie. Its shape is called “Cactus Flower”, a well-known symbol in Native American jewelry. The flower is created here with twelve beautiful Sonoran turquoise cabochons surrounding a large and beautiful oval Sonoran turquoise, creating hypnotic shades of green.
Let's now focus on the details of the pendant ring: it is wide enough for this beautiful strand of beads, but above all it is so beautifully hand-crafted. The artist has created a work of stamping and repousse. The stamps are the artist's own creations, made using his personal punches hand-hammered into the silver, and the repousse are these diamond shapes in relief. This creates beautiful contrasts that enhance the final Sonoran turquoise cabochon set on top.
This pendant is on a string of silver beads: each one is hand-crafted from half-spheres of sterling silver, which are then soldered together to create saucer-shaped beads. All these beads are oxidized and brushed, for a beautiful dark mat finish, creating even more contrast with the green shades of the Sonoran turquoise and the small shiny silver beads visible between each saucer beads.
