Heishi beads by Gérard and Mary Calabaza
Welcome to the Calabaza family: Gérard and Mary are Pueblo jewelry artists, specializing in the creation of Heishi beads.
The making of these tubular beads is long and meticulous: stones (including turquoise, of course), shells or other raw materials are hand-cut into small squares, then pierced and strung on a wire. Gérard and Mary grind this strand on a grinding wheel to perfectly shape their Heishi beads. Often imitated but never equalled, genuine, high-quality Heishi beads can be recognized by their uniform and smooth feel.
You will find a fine selection of Heishi pearl bracelets and necklaces made by the Calabaza in our collection.
